AFL-CIO Chapter Violently Assualts Washington State Port … None Arrested

This is the sort of hug-a-thug justice that encourages violent. In essence this was worse than a flash mob attack – it was a union planned paramilitary assault on innocent people that included holding hostages for several hours. Kidnapping is a federal offense, yet when police finally took control of the scene none of union members were arrested.

From the AP:

LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) — Hundreds of Longshoremen stormed the Port of Longview early Thursday, overpowered and held security guards, damaged railroad cars, and dumped grain that is the center of a labor dispute, said Longview Police Chief Jim Duscha.

Six guards were held hostage for a couple of hours after 500 or more Longshoremen broke down gates about 4:30 a.m. and smashed windows in the guard shack, he said.

No one was hurt, and nobody has been arrested. Most of the protesters returned to their union hall after cutting brake lines and spilling grain from car at the EGT terminal, Duscha said.

What’s the union complaining about anyway:

The International Longshore and Warehouse Union believes it has the right to work at the facility, but the company has hired a contractor that’s staffing a workforce of other union laborers.

Oh, I see. The ILWU are communists who are telling their members they have a “right” to work where they want – yet employers have no right to decide to hire who they want. You know, because then they may not want to hire kidnappers, thugs and degenerates.

But wait, this story gets worse:

Police from several agencies in southwest Washington, the Washington State Patrol and Burlington Northern Santa Fe responded to the violence to secure the scene that followed a demonstration Wednesday.

“We’re not surprised,” Duscha said. “A lot of the protesters were telling us this in only the start.”

One sergeant was threatened with baseball bats and retreated, Duscha said. “One officer with hundreds of Longshoremen? He used the better part of discretion.”

The train was the first grain shipment to arrive at Longview. It arrived Wednesday night after police arrested 19 demonstrators who tried to block the tracks. They were led by ILWU International President Robert McEllrath, who said they would return.

The blockade appeared to defy a federal restraining order issued last week against the union after it was accused of assaults and death threats.

Yet according tot he story no one had been arrested on the spot. Think about that for a second. A mob of thugs can take your husband or wife hostage at their security job, hold them for several hours, threaten police and commit random acts of violence and if they’re an AFL-CIO affiliated union they’ll go home and have a beer afterward.

Michele Malkin reports that well after the incident a couple of arrests were indeed made – but as far as I can tell none are being held for kidnapping. Right now the Port of Seattle has been shut down by this union.

This lawlessness will spread if not dealt with firmly – and it won’t be dealt with. If you work at a place where a union is raising Hell I suggest you arm yourselves if you don’t want to get beaten, kidnapped and raped by union thugs.

By the way – when you pay more at the supermarket for grain based products thank a union member.
