Armed Robbery at Willis Grocery In Taylors

A Taylors convenience store was the target of an armed robbery Friday afternoon.  Two men demanded cash from the clerk at Willis Grocery on East Lee Road before fleeing on foot, deputies said.  News Channel 7 reports:

Deputies began searching the area, and put nearby Brook Glenn Elementary on lockdown. The men have yet to be found.

Deputies have not released a detailed description of the suspects yet.

Armed convenience store robberies are such a common occurrence in Greenville lately, it might be more newsworthy if we stuck to reporting when they don’t happen.

My neighbor just happened to pull up to this store as the robbers came running out – they shot at him – he now has a bullet hole in his truck – he then hit one of them with his truck – so these robbers are armed, dangerous and still on the loose. This occurred in the East Lee / Taylors Road area…

I happened to be “that Clerk” and just for clarification, they never had time to demand money. I had Two guns pointed in my face while they were telling me to get down on the ground. If it hadn’t been for one of my regular customers, who knows what would have happened but I am extremely thankful to him and I thank God everyday that Im alive to see my girls just one more time. There should be more people like that in this world
