Black Ice Expected for Thursday

Be careful out there:

Winter storm warnings and advisories are issued for Western North Carolina and a hard freeze is expected in both Carolinas overnight.

Storm Team 7’s Christy Henderson says the Tennessee-border counties are under a winter storm warning until noon Thursday.

Buncombe and Northern Jackson Counties are under winter weather advisories until noon Thursday and McDowell, Henderson, Transylvania and Southern Jackson Counties are under lake wind advisories.

Henderson says we can expect high mountain showers overnight with up to three inches accumulating near Tennessee.

Areas as far south as Asheville can expect an inch of fresh snow on the ground Thursday morning.

Both Western North Carolina and the Upstate are expected to go through a hard freeze tonight with lows in the teens.

Patchy black ice will continue to be an issue.

Slow it down out there.
