Jonathan Brian Couch Pleads Guilty to Being a Filthy Pervert
I’m paraphrasing. The FBI issued this press release a couple of days ago:
COLUMBIA, SC—United States Attorney Bill Nettles stated today that Jonathan Brian Couch, age 33, of Greenville, pled guilty today in federal court in Spartanburg to possession of child pornography, a violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2252A. United States District Judge Henry F. Floyd of Spartanburg accepted the plea and will impose sentence after he has reviewed a presentence report prepared by the U.S. Probation Office.
Evidence presented at the change of plea hearing established that on August 3, 2007, a federal search warrant was executed at Couch’s place of business on White Horse Road in Greenville. The search was based on an investigation revealing that Couch was downloading and sharing child pornography using a peer-to-peer file sharing program. These programs allow users to search for and share with one another various types of files, including movies and pictures on the computers of other persons who are part of the network.
A forensic examination of Couch’s computer revealed images of child pornography. After being advised of his Miranda rights and waiving them, Couch admitted to agents that he used peer-to-peer file sharing to download and view child porn.
Prior to his first appearance in federal court, Couch fled the state and hid out in California. He eventually returned to South Carolina and was apprehended by state and federal officers on June 28, 2010.
Mr. Nettles stated the maximum penalty Couch can receive is a fine of $250,000 and/or imprisonment for 10 years, plus a special assessment of $100. The case was investigated by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney William J. Watkins, Jr. of the Greenville office handled the case.
Unless there’s another Johnathan Brian Couch this degenerate has been in trouble before. A quick Googling of the name shows that just before he was caught with the child porn he was booked into the Anderson County Detention Center for passing bad checks and burglary. At some point he even made it onto the Pickens County Sheriff’s Most Wanted list.
Hmmm. Passing bad checks, burglary and surfing child porn. Anyone think drugs were involved?
No Charges Filed Against Mother Whose Child Was Found Wandering White Horse Road?
What? A two-year-old was found by a bus driver wandering the streets alone. When she asked the child where his mother was the boy said “at work” which would lead me to believe that since this was 7:45 in the morning someone, shall we say, pulls a night shift. The heroic bus driver tried to look for the child’s parents on her own for a while before calling cops, and once police finally found the mother they found she didn’t even know the boy was gone.
Mow if she worked a 9-5 she would have already been up and known she was missing a kid. I think she got home around 6:00am or so and passed out which to mean means bartender or dancer. But I digress.
Police aren’t going to press charges though, which is weird because this does sound neglectful:
The Greenville Sheriff’s office says they were contacted Wednesday morning at approximately 7:45 am concerning a 2 year old boy found by a Greenville Transit Authority bus driver.
Deputies say the boy wandered away from the nearby Emerald Commons Apartment Complex, while his mother was asleep. Investigators say the boy walked toward an intersection of White Horse Road, where he tried to get on a bus.
Investigators say the bus driver, Carolyn Downs, took the child and tried to look for his parents without success. The driver then drove the child to the Greenville Transit Authority Office and contacted the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were able to knock on doors until they found the child’s parents. They say his mom wasn’t even aware he was gone.
But the cops don’t expect to file charges? Am I missing something?
Jason Nem Smith of Campobello Charged With Distributing Kiddie Porn
Jason Smith of Campobello is a filthy pervert. (Allegedly, of course.) Here’s the news release from the Office of the Attorney General:
Attorney General Henry McMaster announced today that Jason Nem Smith, 30, of 208 Harrison Acres Drive, in Campobello, South Carolina, was arrested on August 5, 2010, by the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office on child pornography charges.
The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office is a member of the Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Task Force investigators have received training on the use of special software to conduct undercover investigations related to the sharing of child pornography on peer-to-peer (file sharing) networks.
Smith is charged with one (1) count of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor (§16-15-405), 2nd Degree, a felony offense punishable by two (2) to ten (10) years imprisonment; one (1) count of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor (§16-15-410), 3rd Degree, a felony offense punishable to ten (10) years imprisonment; and three (3) counts of Dissemination of Obscene Material to a Minor (§16-15-345), a felony offense punishable to ten (10) years imprisonment on each count.
Smith is charged with sharing digital photographs and/or videos over the Internet depicting children engaged in sex acts. Smith’s computer was seized for forensic examination. Files containing the pornographic images were found on that computer.
A booking photo is available through the Spartanburg County Detention Center.The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
McMaster stressed that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
Smith posted bond and is back out on the street today. Let’s hope investigators have an airtight case.
Shanetta Powers Leaves Toddler with Homeless Man While She Goes Out “For Cigarettes”
Ah, the old going out “for cigarettes” excuse. Not that I have any inside information, but isn’t it funny how people who are going out “for cigarettes” often end up coming home high or having turned a trick? I’m not implying anything, just making an observation. But those sure must be some good smokes for this lovely lady to leave her toddler with a homeless dude, right?
A woman was charged with child neglect Monday night after a frantic search for her 18-month-old son ended when the child was returned safely to his mother by a neighbor.
Shanetta Monique Powers, 21, of 408 Abner Road, Spartanburg, was booked into the Spartanburg County jail at 8:35 p.m., about one hour after the search at Whispering Pines Apartments ended with the child unharmed.
A man on the scene who identified himself as a close friend of Powers said Powers left the boy in the care of another man for about 5 to 10 minutes while she went across the street to get a cigarette from neighbors, who were going to drive Powers to the store to get food because she doesn’t have a car.
When Powers returned to her apartment, the man and her child were gone.
What a surprise! But wait, in the ten minutes or so it takes to get a pack of smokes a virtual comedy of errors ensured, assumedly in some sort of wormhole where time is distorted:
The child was found unharmed and returned to his mother. The man who was watching the little boy had handed him off to a woman neighbor, and that neighbor gave the child to his mother’s friend, Marvin Byrd, around 7:30 p.m.
After being reunited with his mother, the child was taken into Emergency Protective Custody and later turned over to the South Carolina Department of Social Services, according to a statement from the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.
Byrd said the man Powers left her son with was a transient.
“He takes from everybody,” Byrd said, “but she’s nice enough to let him stay there for some reason. I wouldn’t have done that, but she’s too nice. I tried to tell her before, ‘You need to cut down on that.’ ”
Is it too early to put her name in for mother of the year?
Pamela Ortega Says “Peer Pressure” Made Her Rape Her Children and Molest an Infant Online
Yes, peer pressure made Pamela Ortaga perform vile, disgusting acts on her own children and an infant while streaming the video to other perverts. Of course, Ortega looks about 40 so I assume she saw the afterschool special on not succumbing. But when you’re communicating online with child molesters and other deviants how can you be expected to resist their calls for you to destroy the lives of your own children and violate the most helpless of victims.
I mean, you need these people to like you, right? So you have to molest children.
