SAN DIEGO (CBS) — A pair of Southland street cart vendors who were forced to shut down their businesses after “Occupy” protesters vandalized their carts are hoping to get some help from local residents.

The coffee and hot dog carts were located in Civic Center Plaza, the same location as the Occupy San Diego protesters.

That group first settled in to the plaza Oct. 7 and set up a tent city which has since twice been taken down by police.

Coffee cart owner Linda Jenson and hot dog cart operators Letty and Pete Soto said they initially provided free food and drink to demonstrators, but when they stopped, the protesters became violent.

And according to one city councilman, bodily fluids were used in the attacks.

“Both carts have had items stolen, have had their covers vandalized with markings and graffiti, as well as one of the carts had urine and blood splattered on it,” said Councilman Carl DeMaio.

The damages will likely require at least a complete cleaning if not a replacement of the cart covers, DeMaio said.

In addition to the attacks, the vendors also said they recently received death threats.

So unless people provide them with free stuff they will murder people? Sounds like they truly are the 99% … of felons. Here’s video of Letty Soto (among others) begging the authorities to save her from these thugs. She needed police protection to appear in public:

Early Wednesday morning a police officer noticed a suspicious truck in the parking lot of the old Greenville Braves stadium and upon investigating found scrap copper bits scattered throughout the scene. Calling in a police dog (named Nero I hear) police found Robert Peters hiding nearby with tools people use to steal copper.

Copper is also everywhere and especially easy to steal when there are as many abandoned and empty structures as the Greenville County area has. Everything from houses waiting for buyers to old stadiums are full of copper, and we have no shortage of scrap dealers willing to pay out money and not ask questions.

I’ve said before that we’ll see more of this and we will. Peters bond is set at $1000 which should tell you how much little time he’ll eventually face for this crime which makes it all the more appealing to would be thieves. If you’ve got an empty property sitting somewhere you might as well pull the pipes and wiring out of it to get the money yourself.

Then they should horse whip him for doing something so dangerous. Note to morons, bullets don’t evaporate when they hit glass. Even if the bullet itself shatters and begins to disintegrate (as lead bullets will do when hitting hard surfaces) chunks can still fly off at various trajectories and hit someone not to mention that the glass itself “spalls” and creates secondary projectiles as dangerous as the bullet.

My only wish is that a bullet ricochets off one of these shelters and hits the shooter in the man berries:

WOODRUFF, S.C. — Thieves are robbing from the dead and investigators are trying to track them down.

A manager with the Greenhaven Cemetery in Woodruff noticed several missing bronze vases and called deputies.

For family members and friends, the cemetery is a final resting place for those they love. But some bold grave robbers disturbed the grounds and ripped the vases from grave markers.

“It didn’t surprise me a whole lot,” said Jean Hunter. She said that type of low-down crime has happened before at the cemetery — to her mother’s grave. “About a year, or so, ago, her vase was stolen. They replaced it for us,” she said.

So, when she heard more thieves hit the cemetery, she got in her car and drove there.

Bronze and Brass have really been a small timer market. Bronze has usually been worth about $2/lb depending on the scrap yard and circumstance. However the primary ingredient in bronze, copper, is just retreating off 4-month highs and speculators are expecting the metal to surge in the coming months due to increased industrial demand. Scrap metal dealers may be in a buying mood for all sorts of scrap in anticipation of a run on metals by governments, industry and speculators.

That fact is no excuse for vandalism, or stupidity for that matter. Two young art critics let their feelings about Greenville’s infamous “string sculpture” be known by taking a knife to it. What I suppose they didn’t know was that they were on camera at the time:

What we’re seeing is a guy trying to impress a girl by vandalizing this “sculpture” who is herself trying to impress him by dressing like a hooker from Miami Vice. He’s going to pay a hefty fine to impress a girl he could have had sex with regardless. Sad.

But not quite as sad a string sculpture.

According to a incident report obtained from the Police Department, the burglary sometime Sunday night or early Monday morning at the Murphy’s Gas Station, located at 2517 Laurens Road. The report states that an employee at the convenience store came into work early Monday morning and noticed that the business had been burglarized.

Deputies and the employee reviewed the surveillance video and observed a black male and white female pull up to the door of convenience store in a black or gray Chevrolet S-10 truck. The video shows the male suspect exiting the truck and taking a tire iron and hitting the store’s door and causing the glass to shatter before entering the business.

Shameful.
