DEA Brings Down Major Greenville Drug Operation

Federal agents used flash bombs to bust their way into a suspected drug trafficking operation on Blackberry Valley Drive in Greenville Monday morning.  The Drug Enforcement Agency bust was a success, according to US Attorney Walt Wilkins.

Nine people in the home were arrested.  Agents found around 130 pounds of marijuana, $10,000 cash and three weapons inside the house.  Wilkins says the home was part of a suspected trafficking ring from Mexico to Texas, then up here to the Carolinas, funneling thousands of pounds of pot to our area.

Those arrested are expected to have a hearing on Wednesday.  While no gang connections have been reported, it seems likely given the nature of the crime and the general increase in gang activity in the Carolinas.  We will bring you more on this story as it unfolds.
