Family of Isaac Bass Finds Closure in Arrest of Korey Love

Isaac Bass was on his way home from work three years ago when his life was ended in a brutal robbery. His family has waited all this time for justice and now it seems at hand with the arrest of 21-year-old Korey Love of  Taylors. That Love was 17 at the time of the crime makes the situation all the more senseless and tragic. But for the family of Isaac Bass, the arrest of Love brings them closer to the closure they desperately need:

Valerie Creel, Isaac’s mother, said, “There was no reason for anyone to shoot Isaac.

“I feel like if we hadn’t taught him to be so loving and trusting, maybe this wouldn’t have happened. He could have protected himself a little better,” she said.

Neither Isaac’s mother nor his stepfather ever gave up hope.

“I feel like [Isaac] is resting a little more peaceful tonight. I know I am,” Valerie Creel said on Tuesday. “Losing him I feel like I will think about that everyday. But, I think this will help because we owe this to [Isaac.] We just couldn’t give up until we had those answers. I just feel like he was such a good son to us and that’s the last thing we could do for him.”

Creel said she has questions she’d like to ask Love. “Why did you have to kill him? Was it worth that?”

She said, “I don’t feel like he gained anything by what he did.”

“I feel like Isaac had a lot of love to offer this world. Isaac was my only son and I just feel, like, overjoyed that someone is going to be accountable for it.”

Jeff Creel, Bass’s stepfather, said,”For the person who did this, I don’t feel sorry for him, but I feel sorry for his family. For what he’s put not only my family, but his family through, because they’re going to have to go through the same thing we’re going through now.”

Both parents also thanked everyone for the support. The couple is especially thankful for police and those who donated to an auction on the third anniversary of Bass’s death. Money raised at that auction was used to increase the reward for information in the case.

Authorities are saying there will be more arrests.

Korey Love is being held without bond. He was pinched after several reports were filed on the third anniversary of the young man’s death, including the fact that there was a reward for information.

Luckily there is no honor among thieves or murderers.
