Greenville Man Pulls Gun on Postal Inspector & Deputy

A U.S. Postal Inspector’s visit to a local Greenville residence turned violent Monday afternoon when several shots were fired.  News Channel 7 reports:

Michael HendricksGreenville Deputies say at approximately 4:00 pm, a sergeant with the Sheriff’s Office accompanied a U.S. Postal Inspector to 134 Cashmere Drive.

They say the purpose of the visit was for the postal inspector to address some mail problems with a male resident and a deputy was requested to assist due to threats being made by the resident.

They say upon the sergeant’s arrival, he met with the postal inspector and they approached the resident who was standing on the porch.

The resident became agitated by their presence and began pulling a revolver from his pocket. The sergeant was able to draw his service weapon and at the same time grab the suspect’s gun, which was out of his pocket and being pointed in the sergeant’s direction.

Deputies say the suspect and sergeant began to fight for control of both guns and during the altercation the sergeant’s service weapon discharged four times.

No one was injured.  The resident was taken into custody and charges are expected to be filed.

I know I should insert some choice bit of snark about going postal, but the well is dry. Feel free to offer your best “going postal” line in the comments.
