Nathaniel Tate Choice Got Away with Murder

Nathaniel Tate Choice claimed that the roommate of a friend of his shouted a racial slur at him, then took a swing at him. After a brief scuffle Choice went back to his house, retrieved a steak knife, returned to his friend’s house where he stabbed Gilbert John Sherrard to death.

He claimed it was self-defense.

This is obviously not self-defense. He had already extracted himself from any danger, he was in his house. He was out of danger and went back to kill the guy who took a swing at him. Who in their right minds would believe this was “self-defense?”

A  Greenville County Jury:

A Greenville man is free following nearly two years in jail after a jury acquitted him of murder in the stabbing death of another man.

Nathaniel Tate Choice was found not guilty by a jury after a two-day trial in which Choice took the stand and said he acted in self-defense.

Choice stabbed 43-year-old Gilbert John Sherard of Greenville with a steak knife after an argument at Hillandale Apartments on Poinsett Highway in September 2008.

Choice, 48, had been in Greenville County jail ever since.

Greenville County sheriff’s investigators testified that Choice went to Sherard’s apartment to see Sherard’s roommate, who wasn’t there, and then he returned with a knife.

In a statement to police, Choice said he stabbed Sherard twice after Sherard used a racial slur, according to testimony.

The two got into an argument, and Choice went to his apartment and came back with a knife a few minutes later, Master Deputy Antonio Bailey testified.

Got that? Even Choice admits that he returned to the scene of the incident with a knife. But twelve morons in Greenville think that’s self-defense. Now a man who will kill you if you have an altercation with him is walking the streets. Nice job.

If you see Choice make sure he doesn’t have anything sharp in his hands. And let’s hope his next “argument” is with one of the jury members and not some innocent schmo on the street.

I am Gil Sherards older sister. I was there from PA for the trial of my brothers murder. The jury dropped the ball. They were falling asleep, laughing and leaning back in their chairs with an irritated look about them. The prosecution proved their case. Defendant gave a statement immediately after the murder to a detective in which he admitted to going into his residence to get a knife and “take care of it.” Of course defendant says he never said that. Well, he did have only an eighth grade education and couldn’t read or write, so…the detective lied. Whom, by the way, is also African American. Let’s not forget the two witnesses. The jury sickens me and it would be nice if Nathaniel Choice moved into one of their neighborhoods.

I want to thank Rob Taylor for this article. The jury was a bunch of absolute idiots.
