Parents of the Year Don’t Report 1990s Era Sex Assault on Their Son?
I was reading about the Christopher Vargo case on Fox Carolina when I realized how full of parenting fail it was:
Greenville County deputies said 41-year-old Christopher Vargo molested two 13 to 14-year-old boys between June 1994 and August 1995.
According to arrest warrants, Vargo, who was between 23 and 24 years old at the time, was visiting one of the boys at his home and began wrestling with him. The warrants said that Vargo then pinned the boy down and began rubbing the teen in an inappropriate manner. The warrant said that Vargo’s advances were interrupted when the boy’s parents entered the room.
At which point they didn’t call police? That’s what it sounds like because Vargo continued assaulting the teen and another boy after that.
20 years later he’s facing justice. Better late than never but I still would like to know how the parents who walked in on their child being assaulted handled the situation, or if they just ignored it.
