Pit Bull Attack Off Faris Road in Greenville

A 76-year-old man was attacked by dogs near Moultrie Street off Faris Road in Greenville on Monday, and may have to undergo painful rabies shots if the canines are not identified.

Three pit bulls bit Al Hammer in the hands and leg while he was taking his daily walk down the road. The wounds on his hands required stitches. He was also bitten on the thigh.

The dogs were well-groomed and did not appear to be strays, Hammer said.

The attack occurred very close to Augusta Circle Elementary School, but no student injuries were reported.

Greenville Police officers do not know if the dogs were rabid, and have been unable to identify the dogs’ owners.  If you have any information, please contact the Greenville Police department at 467-5258.
