Shooting, Assault, & Flubbed Kidnapping on White Horse Rd.

A kidnapping plot ended in violence Sunday afternoon, and Greenville County deputies say it all started with a drug deal gone bad.

Deputies said three people asked a female friend to give them a ride, but when they got inside the car, they saw two men with whom they had had a previous altercation.

They managed to get out of the car once traffic slowed near the intersection of White Horse Road and Highway 253, but deputies said that’s when the men inside the car shot one person in the neck and pistol-whipped the other.

The victims fled to a nearby McDonald’s and Taco Bell for help.  The shooting victim is expected to survive.

The incident began in a motel room Saturday night when two of the victims allegedly ripped off the kidnappers in a drug deal, according to Lt. Tim Ridgeway of the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.  “From last night, it started from a drug deal gone bad, and so the people in the back seat of the car decided they were going to get their money back or their drugs back,” he told WYFF4.

Investigators are seeking the female driver and her two male passengers. They have the identities of two of the suspects.  The car is described as a silver or gray Honda or Hyundai.
