Shooting Death at Greenville Auto Parts Store

[Update, 11/3/09, 7:50 a.m.: Suspect Chavis Cox Charged in Shooting Death of Al-Waajid Samad Haneef (Plus, Killer’s MySpace)]

A man in his thirties is dead after suffering a gunshot wound to the head at Haneef’s Auto Sales in Greenville this afternoon.  Greenville County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene at 2 Randolph St. near the intersection of White Horse Road and Augusta Road shortly before 5 p.m. The victim died around 6:30 p.m. at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

WSPA is reporting that the identity of the shooter is unknown at this time, but a man who fled the scene has been detained and charges are expected soon.  WYFF4 reports:

A security guard assigned to the business saw the wounded man on the floor at the business. The guard then scuffled with a person who was attempting to flee the scene. Deputies were questioning that person just after 5 p.m. on Monday.

As of late Monday afternoon, deputies had not named a suspect in the shooting.

Details remain too vague to speculate on motive at this point.  Greenville Dragnet will bring you further information on this homicide as it becomes available.
