Shooting Suspect With Badly Misspelled Name Found Hiding out in Greenville

"Damieon" is not how you spell "Damien"

He came for the nightlife, and stayed for the hideout. I’m told he was a big fan of the “hip” and bustling downtown.

He’s also a fan of shooting teens:

A man wanted for his alleged role in a Burlington shooting on Aug. 21 was arrested in Greenville, S.C. last week.

Alamance County Crime Stoppers received a tip Thursday that Damieon Damonte Jeffries, 28, was in Greenville, S.C. The Greenville Sheriff’s Department was notified about where Jeffries was staying, according to a Burlington Police Department news release.

At about 8:30 p.m. Thursday, the Greenville Sheriff’s Department located Jeffries, and he was taken into custody. He will be extradited back to North Carolina.

Burlington police have been looking for Jeffries since a shooting at 11:40 a.m. Aug. 21. Jeffries allegedly shot 17-year-old Ranferi Mendoza of Ashland Avenue, Burlington, in the leg. Police found Mendoza inside El Gallo Giru on East Webb Avenue. He was taken to UNC Hospitals for treatment.

Good riddance. And “Dameion?” Really? Are you sure you didn’t mean to name him “Damien?”
