Simpsonville Cops Find Meth Lab at Palmetto Inn

A small meth lab was discovered at the Palmetto Inn just off I-385 when Simpsonville Police officers responded to a complaint on Wednesday.

Shortly before noon, authorities responded to the Palmetto Inn, room 129, after someone reported that a man was inside using drugs and threatening to hurt himself, police said.

An officer saw what he believed to be items used to produce meth and called narcotics investigators, police said.

After executing a search warrant, a small-scale meth lab was found, police said.

Police arrested 30-year-old Jason Robert Mendez of Fountain Inn. Warrants indicate he was charged with manufacturing meth and possession of the diazepam, a narcotic.

Cooking meth is an extremely dangerous process that can result in the creation of flammable and volatile chemical compounds.  Authorities say the hazardous chemicals used in Mendez’s methamphetamine operation have been cleaned up.
