Two Suspects Face Charges in Honea Path Hot Spot Robbery
Two men have been charged with armed robbery in connection with Saturday night’s robbery of the Hot Spot at 11504 Augusta Road in Honea Path. Ernest Eugene Worley, 43, and Donnie Wayne Brock, 34, are being held at Greenville County Detention Center.
While details on the robbery were initially sketchy, GreenvilleOnline.com has helped fill in some of the blanks:
Both men wore shirts wrapped around their faces and yelled at the clerk, saying the robbery wasn’t a joke, Master Deputy Melissia McKinney said. A witness reported seeing them leave the scene in a tan Jeep Cherokee, she said.
Information from the tag led the investigation to Anderson County, and authorities worked with three other police agencies, McKinney said. Worley was arrested at his Abbeville County home, she said, and Brock was found in Honea Path.
As previously reported, no one was injured during the robbery.
Honea Path Hot Spot Robbed
The Hot Spot at 11504 Augusta Road was robbed just after 10 p.m. Saturday, a Greenville County Sheriff’s Office representative told The Greenville News.
Sgt. Chris Taylor, another spokesman, said the men didn’t know show anything in the way of weapon but they suggested there was a weapon.
He said the men fled on foot. Investigators believe they used “an older model pick-up” to flee in the direction of Anderson County.
He said no shots were fired; no injuries were reported.
No description of the men was available, but law enforcement was alerted in Abbeville, Anderson and nearby cities, Taylor said.
If the report from The Greenville News leaves you with some unanswered questions, you’re not alone. To start with:
- Did the men flee on foot or in an older model pick-up? It can’t be both.
- How much cash did the robbers make off with?
- Who was working in the store at the time of the robbery?
- Were employees/customers unable to describe the robbers, or did the Sheriff’s Office just not have a description handy?
- Is there any reason to believe this is related to the robbery that took place early Saturday morning at the Spinx at 7605 Highway 76 in Anderson County (just five minutes away)?
Let’s see if we can’t get a little … what’s the word … journalism happening over at The Greenville News.
