Yet Another Reason to Monitor the Internet Activity of Your Children
In Greer a man is in critical condition after a 20-year-old man his 16-year-old step-daughter was “communicating” with online pulled a home invasion where he slit the man’s throat. The teen was originally assumed abducted but according to WSPA she’s been arrested along with the throat slitter:
A 20-year-old man is under arrest in Spartanburg County after police say he cut the throat of the stepfather of a 16-year-old girl.
Greer Police Lt. Jim Holcombe says the man went to a home on Aldgate Way to pick up the teenage girl this morning.
The man and the girl left the home in a Ford Explorer. Greer Police say law officers in the area were notified to look for the vehicle.
Three Greenville County schools, Riverside Middle, Riverside High and Woodland Elementary, were placed on lockdown at one point of the investigation, but that has been lifted.
Holcombe says the man was pulled over for a traffic stop on U.S. 221 near Woodruff in Spartanburg County around 9:45 a.m.
The man and the 16-year old girl were arrested. Greer police say they’re trying to determine the teenager’s involvement in what happened.
Word on the street is two fold. One theory was that this girl lucked out because her gold Explorer driving “boyfriend” is actually a pimp which is why he was taking her back to Spartanburg which is pretty well known for child trafficking. The other is that the girl told the man the step-father was abusive. I can’t confirm either just passing along information but when a teenage girl has her step-father stabbed by a 20-year-old in an expensive car who then tries to get her to a place known for sex trafficking I think you can figure this one out sans tipsters.
Since the guy might die from his injuries I won’t speculate on why a teenage girl hates her step-father so much but I will say this could have been avoided if her parents simply took the time to take a look at what she was up to when she was online.
